Introduction

In addition to our trilingual courses we offer 40-hour extensive courses during the semester in Arabic, Chinese, French, Ladin, Russian and Spanish.

Eligibility

Eligibility: students, alumni, full-tenured professors, researchers, AR, employees of unibz and students of the Studium Generale. In the case of any free spaces, also employees of partner research institutions in the province of Bozen-Bolzano can also register.

Non-traditional students, senior student cardholders, as well as external participants can only participate in the following courses: Arabic, Chinese, Russian, and Ladin.

The alumni, i.e. the graduates of unibz, can attend all courses on offer (with the exception of the three-week intensive courses) for a fixed fee of € 100 per academic year (registration form alumni).

External participants are required to pay a course fee (registration form externals).

Check the charges regulation for all course participants.

Students can register through MySNS, accessing the section Language Centre > Language Courses.

Language courses in other languages will be planned at the beginning of October.

They will take place in one of the following timeslots:

  • twice a week (Monday to Thursday) from 18:00 to 20:00
  • Saturdays from 9:00 to 13:00.

COURSE CONTENT
Read the Arabic alphabet (reading and writing); basic conversation elements: different greetings, presentation, give information about the origin, ask and answer simple questions, thank; cardinal numerals up to 10.

Grammar
Nominal clause; determined and not determined article; differentiation between the sun and the moon letters; masculine and feminine adjectives; personal nouns; possessive adjectives (suffix pronouns); local prepositions.

COURSE CONTENT
Beginner Chinese language course for participants with little prior knowledge. Basic elements of grammar and syntax; phonetic exercises; writing exercises with Chinese characters. New words to learn: about 100-150.

Greetings and farewells, introducing oneself and others, family, professions.

Communication goals 
Greetings and farewell; asking about someone’s wellbeing; introducing oneself and the others; communicating information about family and language knowledge; asking for and giving information about prices; asking for meanings of words and asking people to repeat; thanking.

Grammar

Reading and writing the Cyrillic alphabet; spelling capitalization; pronunciation, intonation and stress; personal pronouns in the nominative, accusative and genitive; nouns in the nominative singular and plural, genitive, prepositive; verbs (first and second conjugations), Present and Past tenses; prepositions of place; word order in statements (indicative) and questions (interrogative).

Pronunciation: the accented syllable, intonation pattern of interrogative sentences.
Spelling: use of capital letters, coma, tilde and some homophones.
