The Library of the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, with its campuses in Bozen-Bolzano, Brixen-Bressanone and Bruneck-Brunico, has been created as a multimedia centre that serves not only the University’s students and staff but also the local community.

Our mission has always been to provide the information required for teaching and learning, research and life-long learning. We can meet the current and future demands of our clients and our “just in time” motto means that we can provide access to traditional and online information quickly and conveniently.

One of the main strengths of the University Library is the development of its collections, which are constantly being updated in order to keep up with current and future trends. This work is undertaken by a team of qualified subject librarians whose task is to manage and provide any information required within the specific subject areas of the University.

Our work also comprises the following tasks:

• the construction and development of a digital library;
• the transmission of information skills through educational projects for a variety of target users as well as training sessions;
• the organisation of various areas that can support different styles of studying and learning:
• the search for innovative solutions and participation in research projects;
• cooperation and initiatives with national and international partners.

We aim to provide excellent service. Besides the great knowledge and ability our qualified professionals can offer, enriched constantly by training courses, we also pride ourselves on our polite, friendly and efficient service when dealing with our clients.

We are also a resourceful team, supporting and complementing each other with our own strengths and skills, but at the same time we can work independently and responsibly towards individual and team objectives. This approach gives our team a clear direction and structure so that we are well-known locally and internationally for our professionalism and our innovation.

The University Library is committed to using the resources it has at its disposal as fully and as usefully as possible. Its strict routine of continuous assessment ensures that the excellence of service already achieved will continue to be its defining characteristic.
