The University Council has chosen Prof. Alex Weissensteiner as the new Rector

Starting in October 2024, Prof. Weissensteiner will assume the role of the new Rector.

This afternoon the University Council, after considering the views of the Academic Senate, appointed Prof. Alex Weissensteiner to succeed Prof. Paolo Lugli as Rector of the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano. Prof. Ulrike Tappeiner, President of unibz, expresses her confidence in the choice of Prof. Weissensteiner as the new Rector: “The Free University of Bozen-Bolzano has succeeded in finding, from a broad international shortlist of candidates, a Rector who knows both the University and its social and economic environment very well. He is therefore ideally suited not only to represent unibz internationally and nationally but also to anchor the University even more firmly in our region”.
